The Short Take

JUSTIN Isosceles is a Bordeaux-style blend from Paso Robles — approximately 75-80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12-15% Cabernet Franc, 5-10% Merlot. Black currant, graphite, cigar box, dried sage. Structured tannins from limestone soils. One of the wines that put Paso on the serious collector's map. 10-15 years of aging potential.

Isosceles is named for the triangular Bordeaux blend — three varieties, each playing a role. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and dark fruit. The Cabernet Franc brings aromatics and spice. The Merlot softens the edges. Together they produce something that tastes like Paso Robles trying to have a conversation with the Left Bank. Black currant, graphite, cigar box, dried sage — this is not a fruit bomb. The limestone soils in Paso give it an earthiness that most California Cabs lack. The tannins are structured, serious, and they need time. Give it 2-3 years minimum. Five is better. Ten is where it starts to get interesting. At $65-85 it is half the price of equivalent quality from Napa, and the people who know, know. This is a cellar wine from a region that is still undervalued. Buy it while you can.
